DVD Group drops ‘DVD’ from name

AV Zombie: Trade body The DVD Entertainment Group Europe will drop DVD from its title, replacing it with a catch-all ‘Digital’.

The group, headed by Warner vice-president Yves Caillaud, is charged with promoting both HD DVD and Blu-ray formats as well as DVD.

Caillaud says the name change “is reflective of the changing nature of our industry. It’s no longer solely about DVD but rather about a connected living room with the HD media player at the centre of it.”
