Sony offers home cinema without the clutter

Absolute Gadget: Not everyone has a dedicated room to set up their home cinema system. Until we seize power, it might be worth checking out Sony’s Bravia DAV-F200 – which it says is the answer to a good home cinema set-up without overloading your living room…The 2.1-channel Bravia DAV-F200 home theatre system offers HDMI, USB connection and 1080p upscaling.

According to Sony, its “beautiful, clean design” mixes with the latest technology to offer “superb virtual surround sound, without filling your room with speakers”.

The unit plays a number of formats, including DVD, DVD+/-R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, WMA, JPEG and DivX.

TomTom announces four new models with integrated mounts

GPSTracklog: TomTom is announcing four new models today, the numerically awkward TomTom ONE 130, ONE 130-S, XL 330 and XL 330-S. These entry level to mid-range navigators incorporate many of the recent TomTom innovations such as Map Share and the Help Me emergency menu. Add on options include TMC traffic. (EDIT: I’ve been notified that, even though it was listed on the promo sheets I received, gas prices are not an option on the four new models, only on the GO 730, 920 and 930.)

What’s new though is the integrated mount, dubbed EasyPortTM. That’s right, the mount stows on the back of the device as seen above. We don’t have detailed specs yet, but the reported thickness is less than 1.5″ with the mount folded in place. TomTom is touting the thinness of these devices, though in my mind that’s still a bit bulky for your shirt pocket.

Marantz AV8003 Preamplifier and MM8003 Amplifier Combo

Audiojunkies: I gotta give it to Marantz, this combo looks sexy as hell. The AV8003 Networking AV Preamp/Processor on top is compatible with nearly anything you want to send it and has v1.3a HDMI inputs. The preamp also features built-in video processing that provides de-interlacing and up-conversion to 1080p. A full copper plated chassis and extensive internal shielding make this unit nuclear detonation proof so you’ll be able to watch movies in your post-apocalyptic bungalow.

The MM8003 8-Channel Power Amplifier on the bottom has a rated output of 140 watts per channel and can handle low impedances. The amp offers both balanced XLR as well as unbalanced RCA jacks for input, and offers the same nuclear fallout resistance as the preamp so you can watch Blast from the Past over and over and eat radioactive popcorn. Both the amp and preamp are expected to be available later this Summer.

P960: The First Mobile TV Slider Phone for Europe

Akihabaranews: Now this is official. I can NO longer tease my European friends about their mobile phones and no longer refer to Europe as the third-world for mobile phones. Finally Samsung decided to end this once and for all with their P960, a stylish yet very functional mobile phone with DVB-H, with a QVGA screen, an FM radio tuner with RDS, 16.7mm thin, a 3Mpix camera, 3G HSDPA and so on…

P960 is also the world’s first DVB-H mobile TV phone that supports both of European mobile TV standards, Digital Video Broadcast – Convergence of Broadcast and Mobile Service (DVB-CBMS) and Open Mobile Alliance Mobile Broadcast Service Enabler Suite (OMA-BCAST). DVB-CBMS is DVB Forum initiated DVB-H standard based on DVB-T standard, currently available in Italy through H3G, TI and Voda. It will soon become available in France, Belgium, Poland and Russia. OMA-BCAST is OMA initiated DVB-H standard known as the next generation DVB-H solution. It will first become available in Netherland and will continue to be adopted in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.”
