AVRev.com: A survey of more than 1000 homes from ABI Research shows that an increasing number of people are looking for widening access to social media. 36 percent of those who regularly access social media would like to see some form of access through their TV.
Jason Blackwell, senior analyst for ABI Research, thinks that social TV is going to be somewhere on the horizon. He speculates that, “consumers find increased value through shared entertainment experiences and want to explore and deepen these experiences through communities of interest.”
The demographic breakdown of interest in social media through the TV screen reflects how social media is currently used by different age brackets. Younger users were most interested in chat and IM capabilities.
