Pioneer.eu: Pioneer Europe announces the release of the BDP-450, a new top-quality Blu-ray 3D player bringing advanced technologies and a range of features AV enthusiasts will appreciate, including dual HDMI outputs to simplify connections with an AV receiver or multiple displays, Qdeo video processing for exceptional visual performance, DLNA networking, wireless capability and the ability to play back Super Audio CDs, DVD-Audio discs and various audio and video files.
The Pioneer BDP-450 delivers high-quality video regardless of the source thanks to Qdeo video processing technology from Marvell, which allows for greater picture quality adjustments and enhanced upscaling of lower bit-rate video content.
Equipped with two HDMI outputs, the BDP-450 offers versatile installation options. One HDMI output can be connected to a 3D TV or projector and the other to a Pioneer AV receiver for example. The BDP-450 can output audio and video to two 3D TVs/Video projectors simultaneously, or to two 2D TVs at the same time, enabling a multi-room installation or versatile switching between a TV or projector depending on the occasion.
When linking the BDP-450 to a Pioneer AV receiver via HDMI, Pioneer’s PQLS (Precision Quartz Lock System) technology allows the AV receiver to take control of the digital clocking, which eliminates jitter during signal transfer.
To enhance compressed video files, the BDP-450 supports Stream Smoother, a feature that automatically analyses and processes images coming from the internet by reducing compression noise and establishing more detailed, finer images. The technology is especially helpful with low bit-rate video sources originally intended for viewing on small screens. By connecting the BDP-450 to a compatible Pioneer AV receiver, the Blu-ray Disc player will also benefit from Sound Retriever technology which enhances compressed audio files by compensating for critical data lost during the compression process.
In addition to being designed for the highest quality playback of Blu-ray Disc and DVD content, the BDP-450 is geared to access other network-based content. Pioneer built in entertainment network features YouTube and Picasa, available using an Ethernet connection or via the optional AS-WL300 wireless LAN converter.
Being DLNA certified, the player offers access to video and music content shared from a compatible PC or network server via the user’s home network. It comes equipped with DLNA DMR (Digital Media Renderer) capability, enabling content to be pushed directly from a portable source, such as a compatible smartphone.
As well as being able to play the latest 3D Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, CDs and Super Audio CDs, the BDP-450 offers compatibility with the most widespread video formats, including the smartphone specific 3gp file format, Flash video, DivX Plus HD and MKV from disc, USB and via a compatible network Mac, PC or media server. With audio, all key files are supported, from WMA, MP3 and AAC to the lossless audio codec FLAC.
The new Pioneer ControlApp and latest generation iControlAV20124 App give users even more control of their Blu-ray Disc player from the convenience of their smartphone. Users can access menus, steer cursor navigation and perform basic operations such as Play, Stop, Forward and Reverse. Both apps are available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at www.apple.com/itunes/. A dedicated app is also available as a free download for Android users via Google Play at play.google.com.
