Pocket-lint: Sony’s latest home cinema network AV receiver allows you to stream all your media content from your smartphones and tablet devices due to the fact that it’s the first AV receiver of its kind to feature built-in Wi-Fi.
The Sony STR-DN1030 is an update to the STR-DN1020 and this time users can stream content over Wi-Fi – or for Apple devices from AirPlay – while it also provides access to over 15 million songs and internet radio via the Sony Entertainment Network.
With 7.2 channels that each has a capacity of 120 watts, Sony is promising a true cinematic experience. Their confidence manifests from the fact the STR-DN1030’s HD Digital Cinema Sound Tech has been developed by Sony Pictures, the team responsible for engineering the sound on the company’s blockbuster films.
There are five HDMI ports to be used, while the AV receiver’s Digital Cinema Auto Calibration technology will automatically alter the ambiance of the speakers depending on where you position them.
Sony hasn’t yet revealed any official pricing for the Sony STR-DN1030 but it is available now for £469 from Amazon.
