Sony develops AirPlay wireless speakers and dock

What Hi-fi: It’s all been about wireless music streaming today at Sony HQ, with the company revealing its first yet-to-be-released AirPlay speakers and dock.

There are three wireless speakers in development: the NS310, NS410 and NS510. All feature wi-fi, DLNA, AirPlay, 360 degree sound and built-in digital amplifier. (more…)

Onkyo debuts new entry level receivers, HTIBs for 2012

Engadget: For 2012, Onkyo is expanding its lineup with four new entry level receivers and two HTIB all-in-one packages. The receivers all pack the brand new InstaPrevue (PiP preview of each HDMI source with fast switching) and MHL, while the three networked models are the first with access to MP3tunes cloud stored songs, as well as a number of other services including Spotify. IFA 2011: Loewe MediaVision puts 3D Blu-ray, cinema sound and iPod docking in one box

What Hi-fi: Loewe is putting 3D Blu-ray, iPod docking and discrete 2.1 into one box – taking on Bose with the compact MediaVision 3D cinema system.

The MediaVision 3D unit – also available without the speakers – offers 2D and 3D Blu-ray plus DVD and CD playback, and has an iPod/iPhone dock. (more…)

IFA 2011: Loewe SoundVision offers music streaming with touchscreen control

What Hi-fi: Looks like a soundbar with an iPad on top, doesn’t it? But it isn’t – this isLoewe’s new SoundVision, an all-in-one music system that can handle CDs, iPod (but not iPad) docking, internet and FM radio, and music streaming.

That iPad-a-like perched on top is actually a fixed, 7.5in touchscreen display, which you can use to browse/control all your content – which can also be done via a remote handset, if you prefer. The display’s interface is user-customisable. (more…)

IFA 2011: Philips focuses on Android with new Fidelio docks

What Hi-fi: Philips has just announced that its Fidelio range is getting three new Android-dedicated models.

The new docks are based on the current Fidelio for Apple range, but these new models have a ‘unique connector design that adjusts in three dimensions to hold any phone in both portrait and landscape positions. (more…)

IFA 2011: Sony unveils HMZ-T1 head-mounted 3D visor

What Hi-fi: First shown at CES 2011 back in January, this is the finished production version of Sony’s head-mounted 3D visor.

Boasting a 1280 x 720 resolution 0.7in OLED panel for each eye, the headset is able to offer a 3D experience similar to viewing a gargantuan 750in screen from a distance of 20 metres we’re told. (more…)

IFA 2011: Revo’s very tall new K2 iPod/iPhone/iPad dock radio looms on the horizon

What Hi-fi: Launching at IFA in Berlin is the latest model from Scottish digital radio company Revo: its £300 K2 will hit shops worldwide from October 17, and brings a new look to table radios with its 33cm tall slim design – not to mention having a slide-out dock to accommodate iPods, iPhones and iPads. IFA 2011: Sony’s £80 BDP-S185 Blu-ray player breaks cover

What Hi-fi: Sony’s IFA press conference may have focused on its new Tablet range (more of that later), but this budget £80 BDP-S185 Blu-ray player has also caused a stir – it’s been officially launched after quietly hitting shops at the weekend (as revealed in our Forum thread here).

Bringing Blu-ray playback down to a highly affordable level, the new player also incorporates Bravia Internet Video for streaming the likes of BBC iPlayer, LoveFilm and Demand 5. (more…)
