Martin Logan brings ElectroMotion ESL speakers to the UK

What Hi-fi: Martin Logan electrostatic speakers may not be to everyone’s taste, but they certainly look distinctive.

And while they could never be described as cheap, the latest incarnation is at least more affordable than its forebears.

Denon launches ‘just add Blu-ray’ 3D-ready surround system

What Hi-fi: New from Denon is the £400 DHT-1312XP home cinema system, a ‘just add Blu-ray player’ package combining the company’s entry-level AVR-1312 receiver with a dedicated SYS-1312 5.1-channel speaker set-up.

Yamaha introduces four-strong Aventage home cinema receiver range

What Hi-fi: Today Yamaha unveils its new (and newly-named) Aventage range of home cinema receivers, joining the rest of its 2011 line-up.

They replace the existing higher-end models from 2010 and as they use all-new designs and components, rather than just being a range refresh, they are being rebranded under the Aventage name.

There are four models: the RXA3010 (above, £1999), RXA2010 (£1499), RXA1010 (below, £999) and RXA810 (£849). They’ll go on sale in the UK this September.

Jamo launches £300 surround system

What Hi-fi: Jamo has announced a new surround sound speaker package for the budget market, the S 426HCS3.

Weighing in at just £300, the five-channel package has floorstanding front speakers, bookshelf rears and a dedicated centre and subwoofer.

Delivered in a black ash finish in the UK, the floorstanders stand 91cm tall and boast dual 5.5in woofers together with a 1in soft dome tweeter.

The rear satellites, 20cm tall, and centre channel come supplied with wall brackets. (more…)

New Marantz receivers: more details and pictures

What Hi-fi: Following our news story and blog from the D&M product launch earlier this month, Marantz has confirmed more details of the SR5006 and SR6006 (above) receivers, which will be in the shops from the middle of July.

The two receivers both have 3D compatibility, network connectivity via an Ethernet port for internet radio, streaming of content stored on a home network and subscription web-based services, and AirPlay functionality for streaming from iOS devices. (more…)
