JVC introduces KW-NT30HD and KW-NT50HD in-car nav systems with iPhone controlled HD Radio

Newlaunches.com: JVC’s awesome showing at CES this year included the KW-NT30HD and KW-NT50HD navigation systems that come in handy in times of bad traffic. Well, besides a forewarning, it also dishes out some palatable music for those who walk right into the traffic trap. So, what’s special you’re wondering? Well, they both sport 6.1-inch displays with HD radios, USB iPhone connectivity and good integration with ClearChannel’s iheartradio app. The main difference between the two is that the KW-NT50HD offers lifetime free subscription to Total Traffic HD+ network. Now there are additional features that you can exploit from that, such as all-US, Canada and Puerto Rico maps.

Both systems are expected in March. The KW-NT30HD will cost $1,000, while the KW-NT50HD will come for $1,200.

JVC El Kameleon KD-AVX44 2008

Audio Junkies: The 2008 El Kameleon KD-AVX44 is probably one of the best looking new head units we have seen this year. The DVD receiver retains its roots with the oldschool blackout faceplate to keep thieves at bay, but the faceplate is still detachable for those who feel better removing it completely. That faceplate looks like it has no buttons for reason, it utilizes “electrostatic technology” to sense touch and even a proximity sensor to illuminate the face panel when you put your hand near it.

The Kameleon comes prepared for HD radio and satellite radio, with built-in controls for a CD changer and rear-view camera. The 3.5″ (9cm) monitor is a decent size for a single-DIN unit, and the receiver also comes Bluetooth equipped and iPod ready. JVC slathered on the iPod functionality with this unit. The KS-U20 cable used for the iPod USB 2.0 connection charges the iPod while displaying album artwork on the headunit.

More features:
- Animated 3D Graphic User Interface
- Headphone surround sound in Dolby 5.1
- MOSFET 50W x 4
- 7-Band iEQ
- 5V line and subwoofer preouts
- Gold-plated A/V input and output RCAs
- Multilingual display

The El Kameleon KD-AVX44 is expected to be available this Summer.

JVC KT-HDP1 Portable HD Radio

CNet: The good: JVC KT-HDP1 is a compact and stylish device with a user-friendly HD Radio programming interface and numerous audio customization features. We particularly like its universal connectivity and its wide range of installation options.

The bad: The monochrome LCD screen is not the most visually compelling display we’ve seen, and the orientation of the volume buttons makes it cumbersome to adjust while driving along.

The bottom line: If you’re looking for a cost-effective means of bringing HD Radio into your car, the JVC KT-HDP1 is an attractive option.
