Numark debuts new DJ software controller

Electronista: Numark has announced that it’s displaying Stealth Control, a professional DJ controller that comes with Native Instruments Traktor LE and MixMeister Fusion Live software.

With a design based around Numark’s previous control devices, it provides the same two decks and a mixer layout that allows users to jog, scrub, or scratch.

Stealth Control sends MIDI information to control the software and can be used with any application that supports MIDI. A USB cable is used to connect the controller to the computer.

Traktor LE 3 is a dual-deck DJ application that provides features such as auto-sync, beat-accurate loops, and a variety of effects, while Mix Meister Fusion delivers timeline-based mixing capabilities.

Numark intros HDMIX DJ computer

Electronista: DJ equipment and accessories maker Numark has unveiled its HDMIX DJ computer, which acts as a DJ mixer for files sourced from CD-RWs, DVD-RWs, a hard drive or any USB-connected device such as a flash drive.

It comes with an 80GB hard disk that locks in place, and can be quickly swapped out for one with up to 1TB of capacity. Users browse files from a high-resolution color LCD, and can sort libraries by name, artist, album, genre or beats per minute (BPM). DJs can also create custom playlists, and have access to a bundled keyboard.

The HDMIX has three input channels, each with a dedicated EQ and gain control. The master output features a balanced XLR stereo pair output, along with RCA Master and Zone connections. There are two mic, three line-in and two phono inputs, as well as a pair of USB ports for connecting external devices.

iPod products for musical creatives

MacWorld: A host of iPod-compatible products from some of the leading names in pro audio are making their debut at the huge NAMM trade show in the US, including decks, studio mixers and portable PAs.

New Made for iPod products have appeared from Alesis and Numark.

Alesis introduced MultiPort at the NAMM trade show. This small device allows for direct recording to an iPod or a computer and offers built-in level meters, headphone monitoring and integrated iPod controls. it also offers 1/4in inputs and stereo outputs, a microphone input and allows for iPod playback while recording at the same time. Also, as previously reported Alesis introduced its TransActive Mobile PA system for iPod.

Also new from Alesis comes a 16-track USB mixing desk that also integrates an iPod dock. The solution offers 100 studio quality 28-bit audio effects, a built-in limiter and integrates on-board iPod controls for recording sessions directly to the Apple media device, while also enabling users to connect to a computer via USB for a fill mix-down of recorded sounds. The iMultiMix 16 USB also offers a 3-band per channel EQ, guitar and line inputs and records in CD quality (44.1 or 48kHz).

Numark introduced a heavy-duty travelling case for the iDJ2 iPod DJ mixing desk, and also launched the TTi, a USB turntable that’s equipped with an iPod dock and enables users to record vinyl played on the turntable directly to the iPod, or to a computer (Mac or PC) for digitising existing vinyl collections.

Numark prepares pro-level iPod mixer

Electronista: DJ specialist Numark is readying the iDJ2, a pro-level mixing board intended for iPods. Unlike many such boards, the iPod is treated as the primary source for all music: two can be connected simultaneously, or a single iPod can feed two different tracks. Generic USB ports allow the use of key drives, other media players, and external hard drives; the iDJ2 also has a host of more conventional line inputs, as well as XLR and RCA connections.In terms of control each deck has its own jog/scratch wheel, and the centerpiece is an interactive LCD display. Sliders and buttons allow DJs to quickly adjust factors such as pitch control or the three-band EQ.
