Sony Ericsson courts Windows Mobile developers

PC World: Sony Ericsson wants Windows Mobile developers to start working on applications for its Xperia X1 and on Wednesday it announced a tailor-made SDK (software development kit) for the upcoming smartphone.

A beta version of the Sony Ericsson SDK for Windows Mobile 6.1 is available for download from the company Web page. It has already been used in-house and by some partners to develop panels for the user interface, according to Merran Wrigley, spokeswoman at Sony Ericsson.

The SDK is based on Visual Studio, with extensions for the Xperia panel interface. “It will feel very familiar to existing Windows Mobile developers,” said Wrigley.

Sony XPERIA X5 images leaked onto web

HEXUS.lifestyle: Sony’s highly-anticipated XPERIA X1 is yet to make it to retail, but images of what appears to be its successor have leaked onto the web.

The iPhone-like device is said to feature a 3.2in touchscreen display, slightly bigger than the XPERIA X1′s 3in offering. The touchscreen takes up nearly the entire front face, with what appears to be just two front-facing buttons.

It’s rumoured to feature 8GB of internal memory and will offer Wi-Fi and GPS.
