LG looking to take 25% of 3D TV market

Techwatch: The rise of 3D television has been dramatic over the past year or so. In fact if it were not for the science fiction film Avatar, we would have to ask would 3D TV be around as it is today.

With BSkyB launching a dedicated 3D channel and others on the way, an entire industry has been created on the back of a film. So far, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic have dipped their toes into the uncharted waters of the 3D market. Sharp New Aquos Blu-Ray recorder offers you 10 times recording time

Akihabara News: Sharp announced Yesterday at Osaka 2 new Blu-Ray recorders with the BD-HDW55 and its 500GB HDD as well as the BD-HDW53 and its 320GB HDD, capable of offering 10x more recording time compared with the usual DR recording method. Offering up to 63h of Digital Video recording for example on the 500GB HDD model, 3h on a 25GB Blu-Ray Disc or finally up to 6h of the very same Digital HD Video on a 50GB Blu-Ray disc in the maximum video quality possible.

Jabra Clipper unites phones, music players

Electronista: Jabra at the CTIA show on Wednesday announced the North American ship date for its Clipper stereo Bluetooth headset introduced at MWC in February. The device, which can stream music and take calls from a connected cellphone, will ship in May and will be an exclusive to Verizon. Its earbuds feature noise-cancelling technology, while the namesake design makes it possible to clip onto bags, belts and clothes. Read more…

Pioneer gears up three 7.1 receivers with iPhone control

ipodnn: Pioneer today brought out its second AV receiver update this month with three new 7.1-channel models. The VSX-920-K, VSX-1020-K and VSX-1120-K all have special features for iPhones and iPods depending on the model. All have at least a compatible USB port that can play and charge Apple devices; the 1020-K and 1120-K have support for the iControlAV app (free, App Store) to steer the receivers, including multiple audio or video zones, balance tuning and input selection. GPS enabled phones up 92%

Navigadget: According to an analysis firm in Sweden the number of GPS enabled handsets shipped worldwide increased 92% in 2009 to 150 million. If it continues with its 39% compound annual growth rate this number will be up to 770 million in 2014.

The articles acknowledges that almost all smartphones have GPS feature standard and the same is about to happen to even low-cost smartphones. It also says that feature devices will be able to analyze signals from GPS, Glonass, and Galileo at the same time but this still won’t be able to provide a reliable location info when indoors. To circumvent the problem measurements from cellular networks, and WiFi signals will have to be used together. Read more…

Akihabara News: The Mythos XTR-50 is developed by Definitive Technology and promoted as the thinnest on-Wall Speaker with no sacrifice on sound quality.

The company attributes their achievement to various factors including the usage of a dome shaped aluminum diaphragm instead of the conventional cone shaped one made from such materials as paper, plastic or woven fibers, and usage of copper-clad aluminum-core wire instead of the usual lengths of wound copper wire in the voice coils.

This product actually has its high-performance quality certified at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with Design and Engineering Best of Innovations 2010 Awards in the High-Performance Audio category.

Last but not least, each Mythos XTR-50 is offered at $ 700 (525 euros).
