IFA 2011: Pioneer unveils BDP-140 3D Blu-ray/SACD player, more models to follow

What Hi-fi: Pioneer has taken the wraps off its first 2011 Blu-ray player, the £170 BDP-140, and more models will be revealed at the IFA Show in Berlin later this week.

The BDP-140 offers SACD and 3D Blu-ray playback, an ethernet port for connecting to your home network, and DLNA certification. The optional Pioneer AS-WL300 wireless LAN converter enables wireless hook-up to your network if required. (more…)

Pioneer launches five-strong range of micro hi-fi systems

What Hi-fi: Not content with dropping news of its new Blu-ray player on us today,Pioneer is also introducing five micro hi-fi systems, priced from £130 to £450.

All but the entry-level X-HM10 CD receiver (£130) come fitted with a DAB+ radio, composite video out, USB connectivity and a direct digital connection for iPod/iPhone. (more…)

TomTom announces Go Live 1535M in all its app-wielding glory, offers dashboard tweeting

Monster launches new iSport headphone line

What Hi-fi: New from Monster is the first in-ear model in its iSport line of headphones, designed for active users and, the company says, ‘the first Monster headphone designed specifically for superior audio performance’.

Traktor Kontrol S2 digital DJ system shaves a few inches and bones off its big brother

Engadget: Look, last year’s Traktor Kontrol S4 was pretty damn awesome but, at $1,000 and about the size of your average Williamsburg DJ, it wasn’t exactly for everyone. That’s where the S2 comes in. Instead of four channels, it’s a “2+1″ setup that supplements the two standard audio ones with a dedicated sample channel. You still get the same high-resolution jog wheels and integrated 24bit / 96kHz sound card, but Native Instruments managed to shave a few inches, pounds and bucks off its predecessor. At $669 it’s much more affordable — still not exactly an impulse purchase, but within the range of most serious hobbyists.

Garmin nüvi navigators get refreshed, countless new models for 2012

Engadget: It’s time for Garmin to refresh its lineup and flood the market with a slew of dash-mounted GPS devices. In total there are six new series of navigators, with countless models scattered amongst them. The “essential” nüvi 30, 40 and 50 (top left) lines come in three sizes: 3.5-inch, 4.3-inch, and 5-inch sizes (we’re sure you can guess which is which), and cover all the basics including a lifetime’s worth of free map updates.
